The Belfry, which hosted the Ryder Cup four times between 1985 and 2002, is the most well-known golf resort in the Midlands, UK, and is perfect for a break. There are over 340 golf courses in the Midlands, which includes the counties of Derbyshire, Warwickshire, Hertfordshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, and Northamptonshire.
Starting in the north of the region, the Hotchkins Course at Woodhall Spa offers one of England's best golfing experiences. The English Golf Union now calls this location home. The Hotchkins is recognised around the world as one of the best inland golf courses, and in order to preserve that reputation, it recently hired renowned architect Tom Doak to update it while preserving its character. It's a perfect golfing experience, surrounded by gorse and brush, with fairways winding through trees and greens covered by deep bunkers. The Bracken, a second course on the farm, is also worth a look. It would be remiss not to visit the Forest Pines Resort while in Lincolnshire. The 27 holes wind through towering pine trees, with ribbons of green fairways punctuated by well-placed bunkers and typically fast and true greens, as the name implies. On-site, there is a fantastic hotel.
